Pain Conditions
Acupuncture is perhaps most well known for its ability to significantly relieve pain in the body without the addictive and harmful side effects of conventional painkillers. The insertion of acupuncture needles has been shown to stimulate the brain to release beta-endorphins, which function as the body’s own opioids and lower pain thresholds. Furthermore, the micro-trauma induced by inserting an acupuncture needle activates an anti-inflammatory response by the body. This decreases pain as inflammation levels are very closely tied to both chronic and acute pain.
